Control valve

The  control valve or regulating valve for A/C Compressor is required to precisely regulate or vary the displacement of the compressor and thus the quantity of gas to be compressed.

There are 2 types of valves:

– the mechanical one which does not receive any input and mechanically regulates the flow within a set pressure range.

– the electronic one which instead receives an input from the control unit and on the basis of this input varies the compressor’s displacement. In more recent systems, the valve, in the event of a malfunction, can act on the coil, freeing the pulley and thus preventing the compressor from blocking.

The control valve or regulating valve mainly fails due to contamination of the system by residues and/or chemical sealants that cause it to clog.

As should be well known by now, since the air-conditioning system works with gas and therefore with extremely small particles circulating inside the compressor and system components, such as expansion valves, tolerances are very limited and if residues from consumption, breakage or malfunctioning of a component circulate in the system, these in turn cause damage to all air-conditioning system components.

Therefore, whenever work is carried out on the air-conditioning system, it is always necessary to carry out a thorough cleaning with systems and specific chemical components, in order to remove all residues. If this is not done, or is done unprofessionally, it is possible that the control valve will jam and thus require replacement. We always recommend replacement, rather than cleaning, as for a not excessive cost you are sure to do a ‘workmanlike’ job because an improperly performed cleaning will then continue to cause problems in compressor operation.

Other causes of valve failure can be short circuits and/or electrical overloads and incorrect maintenance of the air conditioning system.

We offer a complete range of valves with 115 references to meet every need. To identify the correct valve, our codes appear as crosses with the OE references not only on our website but also on the main search websites.
